Class Structure Outline

I will guide a process of having the children choose how they want to learn the class. (How can we see through the eyes of a 21 century African American child if we only hand them the information. We have to give them the power to choose from the beginning.) We will lay out each title and together we will organize them in the order they want to learn them. The reason for this is to have them engage with the way we learn information to best succeed.

Class structure:

Day one will be all about getting to know each other and talk about the structure of learning photography in a fun and safe environment. Daily practice will begin like this.
What's going very well? : I’ll ask each child what's going well, giving them an opportunity to be celebrated and heard.
What will achieve from our time together? Learning to learn what we want to learn
A blooper/share moment topic (pick a topic from a bowl) Children take turns sharing a time where they made an “error” or did something they may see as wrong. Once they hear that everyone has stories they can relate to they become more comfortable expressing creativity.
Becoming the lens: each day we will become the lens and discuss the ways we see the world differently, through our unique eyes and perspective.
Perspective - looking from the other side or angles as we discover what we can learn from each other when we look at situations from another perspective/angle This will lead to capturing storytelling images.
Class order (day one only): Children will work together to come up with the class order.
